Build your Türkiye itinerary

Start as a guest. Choose your destinations in the planner.

01 · Choose your focus

Choose the Türkiye trip that fits you

Pick two or three priorities before collecting sights. History and food might point you toward more time in Istanbul; landscapes and walks might make Cappadocia a priority. Beach time needs unhurried days, not just a coastal pin on a map.

These places need different kinds of planning. Istanbul rewards grouping visits by neighborhood. In Cappadocia, choose your base and check how you will reach each outing. Plan Ephesus and Pamukkale as separate stops, allowing time to travel between them. A coastal stay deserves time to settle in.

For neighborhood-by-neighborhood ideas, read the Istanbul Travel Planner. For help choosing a base and connecting regional sights, use the Cappadocia Travel Planner.

Make one short list of must-dos and another of nice-to-haves. If everything is essential, your plan has no room for a delayed arrival or a place you want to enjoy longer.

02 · Make room

Match your destinations to your available days

Count arrival and departure days first. Seven calendar days are not seven full sightseeing days. These are editorial starting points, not guarantees of what you can fit.

A starting shape for your trip
Your timeA realistic starting point
4–5 daysOne base, with depth. Choose Istanbul or Cappadocia rather than compressing both around transfers. Keep an optional outing instead of another hotel move.
7 daysTwo bases can work. Istanbul and Cappadocia are one option if your transport fits. Protect a transfer day; shorten the route if connections consume your useful time.
10–14 daysAdd a region, not every highlight. Consider an Ephesus/Pamukkale leg or a coastal stay. Combine that inland leg with a coastal stay only after accounting for every transfer and deciding what to leave out.

Prefer a slower pace? Spend the extra days in fewer places. There is no obligation to add another destination.

03 · Plan the spaces between

Build a route with realistic transfers

A flight duration is not a door-to-door journey. Account for getting to the airport, check-in, waiting, baggage, the onward transfer and checking into your next stay. For buses or driving, include station access or stops and the final leg to your accommodation.

Check actual transport schedules before committing to the order of your bases. Avoid adding a distant excursion simply because it appears near your route on a country map. Within each day, group nearby visits before adding another cross-city trip.

04 · Put it together

An example Istanbul and Cappadocia journey

Two bases. One protected transfer day. Enough flexibility to make it yours.

Read the assumptions first

Seven calendar days and six nights: three nights in Istanbul, then three in Cappadocia. This assumes arrival in Istanbul on day 1 and suitable onward travel from Cappadocia on day 7. Domestic transport on day 4 must be checked separately. If you must return to Istanbul for your flight home, reserve time for that connection or extend the trip.

  1. Day 1

    Arrive in Istanbul

Settle in. Keep a walk near your stay optional rather than booking a major visit.

  2. Day 2

    Keep a historic-center focus

Choose a major sight around Sultanahmet, then leave room for nearby exploring and breaks.

  3. Day 3

Choose another side of the city

Consider a Karaköy/Galata day or a ferry-focused outing. You do not need every neighborhood.

  4. Day 4

    Transfer to Cappadocia

Protect the day for travel and settling in. Only add something nearby if arrival leaves comfortable time.

  5. Day 5

    Explore around your Cappadocia base

For a Göreme base, choose a museum visit or a suitable valley walk, then group any additions nearby.

  6. Day 6

    Choose one different focus

Consider Uçhisar or an underground-city outing. Compare the transport effort before combining distant stops.

  7. Day 7

    Leave space to depart

Plan around your actual onward connection. A full morning of sightseeing is not assumed.

This is an example, not a reservation-ready schedule. Confirm access, opening days and transport. Keep weather-dependent activities optional; neither a forecast nor this route guarantees they will operate.

05 · Make it your own

Turn your ideas into an editable itinerary

Discover places in TripMate, save the ones that interest you, and choose your destinations, dates and pace in the planner. Your Trip is where you organize the itinerary; Now helps you consider what fits your current context.

When plans change, protect fixed commitments first. If you are late, keep completed stops as history and reassess what remains. Reduce the workload or postpone a flexible stop rather than squeezing everything into less time. Review an adjustment proposal before applying changes in Trip.

You can start as a guest. Trips and saved places are stored on your device; cross-device trip sync is not available in this version. Opening the planner from this page does not automatically select the example destinations.

06 · Know what to check

What TripMate can—and cannot—tell you

TripMate helps you discover, save, organize and adapt a trip. Available source-backed operational information is different from an estimated duration or a planning suggestion. Coverage varies; missing hours are not evidence that a place is open.

Do not treat route estimates as real-time traffic, forecasts as weather certainty, or a recommendation as confirmed availability. Check important visitor details with the venue and travel arrangements with the operator. TripMate does not fulfill third-party bookings or manage their payments, cancellations or support.

Useful official starting points are GoTürkiye for destination research and the Ministry’s museum portal for relevant museum information. Check the specific venue, not just a general destination page.
